Gauges Point of no Return

The point of no return when thinking about ear stretching is a term that is used to define the point at which you may be able to stretch your piercing (typically speaking about ears, but stretching other piercings have their own point of no return) that when you take out the plugs for an extended period of time it will not shrink back to fit a smaller size of jewelry.

So what is the point of no return for stretched ears?

Every body is different when it comes to healing. You might know someone who was able to stretch their ears to a large size and they were still able to comfortably downsize back to a smaller size. Or you might know someone who stretched to a minimal size that was stuck at that size.

Caring for Organic Wood Jewelry

Organic plugs, including wooden plugs, can be gorgeous additions to your body! But without proper aftercare your beautiful wooden plugs could turn out dry, brittle and cracked. No one wants that! Let your wooden plugs last forever and keep them looking brand new by following the three simple steps to wooden plug aftercare.

Avoid water at all costs.

Whether it’s an ocean, lake, jucuzi, pool, bath or even a shower always remember to take your wooden plugs or body jewelry out first!

If you are forgetful, it might be best to stick to water proof jewelry for everyday wear and opt to wear your wooden plugs and other wooden body jewelry on special events only.

The reason to avoid water is because wood acts like a sponge and will absorb it. This causes the plug to expand. Eventually, when the plug is no longer wet, this water will evaporate. When this water evaporates it will lead to your wooden plug cracking and drying out.

2017 Popular kinds of Piercings

This year is all about finding piercings that you love and making them yours! Whether that means a dainty nipple piercing or multiple conch piercings, you do you!

Here are some of our favorites to inspire your piercing exploits this year.

Gender Neutral Piercings!

When it comes down to it we often unconsciously stereotype piercings. But in 2017 we’ll be making a stand and we can already see celebrities following through.

For men, why not try out nipple piercings (some believe they heal faster on men anyway!), nose piercings or even ear piercings if you aren’t quite the piercing connoisseur.

For femms wanting more masculine piercings opt for heavy lip piercings, eyebrow piercings and tongue. Piercings that are considered more masculine are those that are thicker, heavier looking and multiple cartilage piercings.

Daith Piercing Info and FAQ

9/5/2017 3:35 PM

Daith Cartilage Piercing Aftercare

A daith piercing (pronounced doth) is a type of ear piercing that is positioned along the inner most cartilage fold of the ear. This is along the same line that holds the helix piercing further up towards the outer edge. Often it appears that the ring is coming straight out of the ear canal itself. You might be surprised to find out that many people get daith piercings because they're said to cure headaches. This piercing works like acupuncture that uses pressure points to alleviate pain.

Why Can't I Fit a Daith Piercing?

Before committing to a daith piercing it's important to check to see if you have a large enough fold for the piercing to run through. If in doubt always check early with your piercer. The size of this fold will also affect whether you can get a double or triple daith piercing as well, which are smaller piercings further down the innermost fold of the ear.

Like any piercing, whether you can fit a daith piercing depends entirely on your anatomy.

Does a Lip Piercing Harm Mouth Gums

Have you ever expressed interest in getting a lip piercing but were faced with comments about them destroying your teeth and gums? We’ve all heard it before, but is it actually true? And if it is true, are there ways to combat the effect lip piercings have on teeth? Keep reading to find out!

Gum Irritation and Recession

A lip piercing that has a bar or ring that constantly rubs against the gums can cause irritation and after a period of time wear. A recent dental study stated that: 50% of people who had worn a long barbell stem piercing (longer than 1.59 cm) for more than two years had their gum tissue pull away from the inside of their lower front teeth.” So, there’s no denying that gum recession and wear can occur from oversized lip jewelry.

Body Jewelry Piercing Sizes

Have you ever wondered about piercing jewelry sizes? Many piercings have “standard” sizes that they use for different kinds of piercings. For example, a nose piercing is usually much thinner than jewelry used in a lip piercing. Sometimes this is aesthetic, sometimes this is the safest size to pierce at to avoid the healing period going awry.

Of course, all jewelry and sizes vary depending on each individual’s anatomy and at the piercer’s discretion. Find out how to measure you own jewelry in this post here. Your piercer should take into account the placement of the piercing and your anatomy. But that doesn’t mean you can’t speak to your piercer about choosing another size. They may be able to accommodate you or explain why that size isn’t possible for you.

Let’s get into it!

What is a Corset Piercing?

7/31/2017 11:01 AM

Corset Piercing

A corset piercing is just a chain of surface piercings in at least two or more rows, laced together using a ribbon, chain or anther material that can be looped through a ring. It does not have to be in the shape of corset lacing as the name suggests, but is commonly so. This piercing can be done almost anywhere a surface piercing can be done, as long as there is enough space for the desired design.

Corset piercings are typically not a permanent piercing! Due to the strain that can be caused by consistently pulling on the skin by any threaded ribbon. Actually, ribbons should not be worn in a healing corset piercing at all! The pulling of the ribbons may put pressure or tension on a piercing that may cause it to migrate and not heal correctly.
