Angel Bites Piercings Offer Up a Wide Array of Jewelry Style Options

There are many different options and combinations of lip piercings. Angel bites are two symmetrical upper lip piercings—one on each side of the philtrum, the indented space between your Cupid’s Bow. They’re also referred to as anti-bites or Madonna Monroe piercings because they combine a Monroe (an upper lip piercing on the left side) and a Madonna (an upper lip piercing on the right side) piercings.

But what jewelry options do these piercings offer? Read on to find out.

What Types of Jewelry Can I Wear in My Angel Bites?

Angel bites are a great way to add some shine and sparkle to your smile. However, your jewelry options are more limited than other piercings. This is because of the need to protect your oral health.

Generally, the jewelry you wear in oral piercings shouldn’t rub against your teeth or gums. Jewelry that does could lead to gum erosion, which causes your teeth to fall out, or tooth damage.

Due to this, the only feasible jewelry option is a labret stud.

What Is a Labret Stud & Why Is It Best to Wear in Angel Bites Piercings?

A labret stud is a type of body jewelry commonly worn in lip, cartilage, and even ear lobe piercings. However, they were originally made for labret and other lip piercings to create a jewelry option that protected oral health.

A labret stud is a straight barbell-like piece of jewelry with some key differences. First, there is a flat disc on the part that is worn inside your mouth. This helps prevent you from biting down on jewelry and damaging your teeth. Additionally, when combined with proper placement, the flat disc creates less friction against the gums when you’re talking or chewing.

While it may seem as if your jewelry options are limited, it couldn’t be farther from the truth. There are many different styles of labret studs.

Titanium & 14kt Gold Labrets

Threadless Labret Studs

When you’re initially pierced, it’s best to start with threadless or internally threaded jewelry to avoid additional irritation to the fresh fistula. Threadless labret studs, also called push pins, still involve a flat disc on one end and an end on the other. However, they are held in place by a small prong or pin that is inserted into the post with the flat disc and slightly bent to secure it in place.

How to Use Threadless Jewelry

Threadless style jewelry is also extremely easy to insert and remove, making them perfect if you want to switch out the ends you wear. This makes them extremely versatile because there are so many options for ends. Our collection contains everything from triangles and hearts to crosses and even puppies. Want a Playboy bunny? We’ve got that too. You can even choose different stones and cubic zirconia (CZ) clusters.

In addition to choosing ends, you can also choose colors and materials for your post. When you’re first pierced, it’s best to stick with high-quality materials, such as stainless steel, titanium, and 14k gold. However, you have more freedom to select other materials once your angel bites piercing has fully healed. In terms of colors, a lot of materials are anodized to be different colors or have PVD coating to make them specific colors. You can select the color that best matches your style, such as rainbow or black.

Threadless Jewelry Tops

Internally Threaded Labret Studs

Internally threaded body jewelry has a thread inside the post that the end screws into. This helps reduce discomfort and irritation that can be caused by the threaded part going through the piercing wound.

Internally-threaded-labrets

Much like threadless jewelry, you still have a variety of jewelry combinations to choose from. You can select your ends, the posts, and the colors. Internally threaded labret studs also come in various materials, ranging from stainless steel and 14k gold to titanium, Bioflex, and more.

Externally Threaded Labret Studs

These are best to wear if your angel bites are fully healed. They’re like internally threaded jewelry, except the post has external threads that the end screws onto. The external threading could cause irritation if you have a fresh or healing piercing, which is why they’re recommended for healed piercings.

Externally Threaded Labret

As with threadless and internally threaded labret studs, you have the option to select from various ends, jewelry materials, and colors.

Retainers

Often made of glass, silicone or acrylic, retainers are great if you ever need to remove your jewelry or keep your piercings as invisible as possible. Because of the glass or plastic, retainers are clear jewelry that keeps your piercing open and prevents the fistula from closing. They’re MRI safe too, so if you ever need a medical procedure and can’t wear your metal jewelry, you can put these in temporarily.

The Main Point

Despite the labret stud being the only suitable jewelry, there are still various styles you can choose from. Part of the fun is selecting the different ends to match your outfit of the day or personal style. You can even choose ones that reflect your interests!

In addition to the hundreds of ends you can pick, you can also choose which materials you want and the colors. This leads to endless options available. Be sure to browse through our collection of angel bites piercing jewelry today!
