Ear Stretching Illusion: Fake Plugs
Ear stretching can look really cool, but it does require some time and effort to pull off the look. Luckily, there’s a way to “cheat” and get the stretched-ear look without ever needing to actually stretch.
Introducing: the cheater plug. It consists of a thin post (one fitting for a mature starting-size piercing), which connects to two large, flat, circular pieces. These pieces resemble a plug when the jewelry is worn, since the skinny post will not be seen inside your piercing. Brialliant, isn’t it?
Fake jewelry plugs like this can come in many different sizes and shapes. The most common sizes are the look of 0, 00 or ½” diameter plugs, perhaps because these are the hardest to achieve and the easiest to notice. However, other sizes are also available, and so are a variety of different styles. Fake ear tapers exist as well, both in straight and in swirling form, much like the real thing.
So there you have it! If you don’t want to stretch your ears, you can keep your small piercings and still try out the look of having plugs. For obvious reasons, it would be impossible to cheat with tunnels. Nevertheless, feel free to experiment with this cool type of jewelry—no one will know it’s not real.
